Als Blutsonntag (englisch: Bloody Sunday) wird in Nordirland der 30. Januar 1972 bezeichnet. An diesem Tag wurden in der nordirischen Stadt Derry bei einer Demonstration für Bürgerrechte und gegen die Internment-Politik der britischen Regierung 14 Menschen von britischen Fallschirmjägern erschossen. 15 Menschen wurden verletzt. Am 16. Juni 1972 erlag ein weiteres Opfer seinen Verletzungen.

Laut der britischen Armee hätten die Demonstranten das Feuer eröffnet, allerdings spricht dagegen, dass kein einziger Soldat verletzt wurde und etliche Demonstranten von hinten getroffen wurden!

Die irische Gruppe U2 setzte sich in ihrem hier stehenden Song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" mit dem Ereignis auseinander.
